After the property was purchased by BHAR, a Muslim community group, people were unsure what it's future would be, however the knock-down price it fetched, raised some eye brows.
They will be seeking planning permission in the near future for the change of use.
Labour Councillor Dipu Ahad claimed, "The Asian community in the West End of Newcastle are short of facilities and this is much needed."
This comment comes only a few short years after the council withdrew £17,500 of funding from the West End Boy's club and reallocated £15,000 to fund a mosque feasibility study.
Ken Booth said, “the BNP will be opposing the planning application for this project as it is divisive and will not benefit the whole community.
"This will also raise questions about the future tenants and owners of the new houses being built in Scotswood and we will be using it as one of our main campaigning issues in coming local elections next May.
"It is situated in the Benwell and Scotswood ward, which the BNP have contested several times, and is in the Newcastle Central constituency that Ken Booth contested in May gaining 2,302 votes - 6.8% beating UKIP and the Greens."
Ken said, “I’m optimistic about stopping this project just as we did with the 'Asia Town' one in the Elswick and Fenham wards.
"Nobody forced anybody to come to Britain and they should stop trying to transform our areas and change our way of life.
"If they do not like it here, they should leave."

Most are disgusted by what has happened, so I think it's time that non active members should assist you with your campaign to prevent the conversion to a mosque.
Cllr Dipu Ahad is one of the most powerful and influential Politician in Newcastle and that’s a well known fact I also know that he is one the most feared in his party. He is the mastermind behind many things and I know from many of my sources that he was put into by The Labour party to destroy the BNP! We need to watch out and unite but not to be afraid as we are on the truth.
