Andrew Brons MEP Speaks On Tyneside

Over sixty people attended a meeting in South Tyneside where Andrew Brons MEP was the guest speaker.

The great turnout was compounded by the fact that the Tyne & Wear derby was being played and kicked off at 1:30, the same time as the meeting.

Ken Booth chaired the meeting and gave a run down of the North East’s recent election results.

He said, “Our region has been gaining votes in the last two major elections, with the best percentage gain in the Euros and General election for the BNP in the whole of Britain.

"Local results held up in May and were not as affected by the high voter turnout as in other regions."

Ken also reaffirmed that we should all rally behind the BNP and get involved in the council election campaigns for next May, even if one is dissatisfied with our current leadership.

Ken introduced Martin Vaughn, the fund-holder for South Tyneside.

Martin told the meeting that he had been one of the mass resignations on South Tyneside out of disgust at Nick Griffin’s decision to sack Ken Booth as Regional Organiser.

Martin went on to say that he decided to return to the position as not only is there is no point in packing it in and making waste of years of dedication, changes that the party needs to undergo cannot be implemented from the outside.

Next, Ken introduced Kevin Scott. Kevin was the Regional Organiser before Ken.

He said that Ken had built on the work he had done in the region and taken the region forward in leaps and bounds.

Kevin went on to describe Ken's sacking as, "Shoddy and Dispicable."

Kevin now runs Civil Liberty which is an organisation defending our liberties, such as freedom of speech and expression.

He then told us about the demonstration for the Gateshead Six on 16th November, who have to answer bail for burning a koran.

He asked if someone burnt a bible, would the police have responded so heavy handedly

Kevin told how a recent art exhibition at the Baltic had numerous complaints by Christians but still went ahead.

It was titled the ‘Piss Christ’, a sculpture of Jesus, you guessed it, made out of frozen urine.

He did not recommend burning the koran but said, "if you must, do it in the name of art."

After a short break, buffet and raffle, Ken introduced the main speaker, Andrew Brons.

Andrew spoke of his work in the European Parliament, telling those attending about the procedures as well as which topics he has been making speeches about.

He said that since the BNP MEPs are not attached to any formal grouping, they are heavily restricted on the amount of time they are given to speak, so all speeches have to be prepared and to the point.

The attendees heard of how Andrew had been to many committee meetings in the European Parliament and the attendance of other MEPs is so bad, there was one occasion where he was the only one there.

For many people, it was the first time they had ever met Andrew, and the general consensus was that he is a very intelligent, well mannered person and a credit to the party.

Readers of this website are encouraged to visit Andrew's Youtube channel to view some of his speeches as well as checking out his official MEP website.

After a 10 minute comfort break their was a very constructive question and answer session.

It was anounced that the collection raised £130, the proceeds from the raffle £40, VOF sales £26 and the merchandise £42.

All money raised will be spent on local election leaflets on Tyneside.
