Newcastle BNP activists have swept over Pendower, where Benwell Towers is situated, delivering leaflets and petition forms to houses in the area and beyond.
The online petition has proven to be a huge success, with nearly all of the submissions available using the free software used up.
Speaking to the Patriot earlier on, Newcastle organiser and Newcastle Central candidate in the last General election, Ken Booth said, "The hundreds of signatures collected at the stall, the PO box full of petitions, the huge response our online campaign has had as well as the petitions I anticipate will be waiting for me at the Post Office in the coming days indicate that the people of the West end have spoken.
"Soon it will be up to the council to tell the people whether they regard what they want for their area as a guideline for policy, or an obstacle to overcome."
The campaign to stop 'Burka Grove' is an ongoing campaign and anybody willing to help out, even if it is only for an hour or two should call Ken on 07954434173.

This must be stopped.
Has anyone tried to track down the original cast?
That's great news. Many thanks for all of your hard work in trying to our heritage, one building at a time.
