Illegal Immigrants Found in Gateshead Takeaways

Illegal workers have been arrested in Gateshead as police clamp down on illegal immigration in the area - despite allowing over half of the 64 arrested to go free and most likely abscond again.

Those arrested include two Chinese men at the Hong Kong takeaway on Durham Road in Gateshead as well as a 27 year old failed Asylum Seeker who was living in the back of the restaurant.

Immigration Minister, Damian Green said, “This operation has been about sending out a very clear signal around the world that Britain is no longer a soft touch on immigration crime."

These words have puzzled many people as only 19 of the 64 illegal workers have been deported, whereas the majority have been released back into society after being given dates to attend a UK Border Agency centre - something which is unlikely to happen.

Other premises which have been raided include the Hong Kong Chop Suey in Berwick, G2 Meats Manufacturing Co., Grocery Off-license in Washington, and Pizza Hotline in Sunderland.
