BNP Beat Tories In Bensham

The party in power was beaten into fourth place yesterday as the BNP just edged in front of them in the Lobley Hill & Bensham ward.

There was also a by-election in the Saltwell ward where the BNP were able to increase their share of the vote.

Kevin Scott reported from the count saying, "We knew that these would be very tough wards, so to beat the tories into third place is very encouraging and gives us something to build on."
