£450,000 Set Aside For Northumberland Street Anti Terror Bollards

Nearly half a million pounds of taxpayers money is to be used to restrict access to Newcastle's busiest shopping street as it has been identified as a potential target for home-grown Islamic terrorists and extremists who have been invited into the country.

Plans include erecting around 100 heavy duty bollards, which are durable enough to halt a 7.5 tonne vehicle travelling at 50mph and will restrict access to maintenance and delivery traffic 24 hours a day unless prior arrangements have been made.

The general consensus seems to be that at least the council and government have realised that the ridiculous immigration policy which they endorsed may potentially have catastrophic effects, however prevention would have been better than treating symptoms.
