Soldier's Killer Only Gets Five Years

The widow of Staff Sergeant Chris Chacksfield, Adele, claimed she was sickened by the court which sentenced her husband's killer to five years in relation to the assault which was reported HERE.

The perpetrator of this unprovoked attack from behind, Michael Ridley, may only serve two and a half years.

Adding to Adele's disgust was the fact that in the same courthouse on the same day, Raymond Scott was sentenced to eight years for attempting to sell a stolen portfolio of Shakespeare plays.

Adele said, "What the courts have effectively said is my husband's life is worth less than an old Shakespeare manuscript.

"Does it make any sense that a lout who has taken the life of a lovely husband and father gets less time in prison than a fraudster?"

This is the first I've heard of this case, and the verdict is appalling, but for some reason this thug seems to have only been charged with GBH and not charged with murder, strange to say the least.
