The popular information stall was accompanied by huge banners around the busy crossroads, making sure that every motorist passing by knew that the BNP were campaigning in the area.
Whilst receiving a lot of support from passing commuters, leafleting teams were hard at work in the nearby housing estates.
Similarly to the day of action in Elswick last week, the stall was very popular with the local shoppers with a good uptake on leaflets and information packs, and most importantly hundreds of people pledging to vote for the BNP.
Unfortunately during the day, Labour councillors, Dipu Ahad (Elswick Ward), Joyce McCarthy and Nigel Todd (Wingrove Ward) and their friends turned up and they showed the ward their undemocratic nature by covering up one of the BNP banners - most likely trying to provoke confrontation.
After the members of the Labour Party were questioned by police, most likely enquiring why they were unable to place their banner alongside their opposition's banner thus not attempting to provoke confrontation, they left the scene.
