Reds shocked at sight of Newcastle BNP

Saturday the 28th of November 2009 was the date set as a day of action by the Newcastle BNP, and is a date that took the reds totally by surprise.

Normally on a Saturday at Greys Monument in Newcastle city center you will find the scruffy dropout dregs of our student population protesting about something that nobody else cares about except themselves.

This rabble tends to show up about 11.00am after dragging themselves out of bed 10 minutes beforehand, and the Newcastle BNP knew that!

So about 8.30am we descended upon greys monument and set up our stall where the reds are usually found, then after a quick coffee we started handing out our leaflets to the passing Xmas shoppers.

There was a great deal of interest and the "Voice of Freedom" proved to be very popular with over 20 sales in the first half hour.

Members of the public made it clear to all our activists that they were pleased to see the BNP in Newcastle and quite a few stated that we should even be there every week, a lot of the passing bus and taxi drivers also gave us a toot and a thumbs up to show us their support too.

Ken and a few of the many BNP Activists

At roughly 11.15am about 7 reds eventually showed up and were totally shocked to find that the Newcastle BNP had the cheek to steal their regular spot, so they hurriedly set themselves up on the opposite side of the road and got a youth aged about 15 or 16 to try and hurl abusive comments to us over a broken down screeching megaphone.

After about half a hour they realised that they could not fix their megaphone and we were not going to be bullied into moving, so they did what the reds usually do and phoned all their other scruffy dropout friends crying for back up (and a working megaphone).

The first Reds arrive to find the BNP

And sure enough along they came....slowly, various little groups of half asleep reds started to appear and watched in utter amazement as leaflet after leaflet was taken from our activists by the friendly shoppers of Newcastle.

When the reds numbers had eventually reached about 120 and they had a working megaphone, they got brave and started their normal monotonous cry of "Nazi Scum", then one or two of their unwashed leaders started to do something in front of them that resembled something like a Indian rain dance?

This chanting only served to help the BNP as it made the public come over and take a look at what the commotion was, and when they saw the BNP stall on one side of the road and the scruffy reds on the other side most came, shook our hands and asked for a leaflet or requested an info pack.

The reds were fuming by this time and decided that they had to get closer and stop the public from making up their own mind about the BNP....so over they came until they were only a few feet away, but the public still pushed past the reds asking for leaflets and about 10 or 12 members of the general public even decided to postpone their shopping for a while and to stand shoulder to shoulder with the members and supporters of Newcastle BNP and face the screaming reds together as one.

BNP facing the enemy

This infuriated the reds even more so they came a little closer and attempted to snatch the leaflets from our activists hands, one well known Asian guy even went as far as to make a "death threat" to a lady supporter of the BNP but this was made out of earshot from the police so was not reported as he would only deny it, and some brave scruff thrust a megaphone into the face of a little 75 year old woman who had just arrived and screeched down to her that she was a Nazi ! !

Her reply to this scumbag {without a megaphone) was that her late father had fought, and been injured in both world wars just to protect and preserve the rights and freedom for people like him and that her late father would have been ashamed if he could see the state of Britain today.

After a short while the police then decided enough was enough and moved the rabble back as well as threatening to arrest a few for a range of offences including breach of the peace, threatening behaviour and obstruction of a public highway.

BNP to the left, reds to the right and shoppers in the middle

We had only planned to stay until about 12.30 or 1.00pm at the latest, but thanks to the reds chanting and the attention it brought we actually received a lot more support than we expected, the reds must have realised this and about 2.45 when we were packing up to go, one brave cross eyed individual threw an opened can of ribena at Ken (which missed him completely).

Back at base we reflected on the days proceedings and events, and everyone present agreed that it had been a marvelous day for Newcastle BNP and was worth every minute of standing in the cold and listening to the rabble.

FOOTNOTE: Over 4000 leaflets were distributed and a lot of new member enquiries were made as well as info pack requests.
Thank you also to all the general public who helped us.
