Newcastle BNP Announce Candidates For The Local Elections

Newcastle BNP will be fielding candidates in 23 of the 26 wards that make up Newcastle upon Tyne City Council, this includes fielding 2 candidates in the Denton ward due to a double vacancy.

This means that the number of candidates fielded by Newcastle BNP has doubled since last local elections in 2008.

North East Regional Organiser, Ken Booth commented, "This huge increase in the number of candidates standing for the party in Newcastle reflects the huge growth the BNP has seen since the last round of elections where we polled 27% in the Elswick ward, coming a close second to Labour. The growth is highlighted by our excellent result of 27% in the Fenham by-election of 2009 - trebling from 9% on a higher turnout which seen every other party's vote share fall. Both wards fall into my constituency of Newcastle Central where I hope to do well."
