Newcastle BNP Meeting In The Newcastle Central Constituency

Newcastle upon Tyne Central Constituency played host to a very interesting meeting on Tuesday 26th January. Over 50 people braved the cold to show their support to the British National Party and listen to our local speakers including candidates for the upcoming General and Local Elections.

Our Regional organiser and Newcastle Central Parliamentary candidate opened the meeting with another entertaining account of the Day of action in Newcastle city centre for those who could not attend the meeting in the North of Newcastle, as well as explaining about other activities around Tyneside. These included the ongoing campaign to get Peter Hodgkinson elected in the Primrose Ward (Jarrow) on Thursday 25th February, whilst urging anybody who can to get involved in the campaign. In May 2008, Mr. Hodgkinson was the main challenger to Labour and with a good amount of hard work from activists, he can take this seat from labour.

The first speaker was the number one North East candidate in the 2004 European Elections, Dr. Alan Patterson. Dr. Patterson spoke of his past political involvement after moving across from Northern Ireland. Once a Conservative Party member and candidate, he became disillusioned with the Tori's social policies which grew ever more liberal. Dr. Patterson then spoke of how he transferred his allegiance to UKIP, a mistake which did not take him too long to realise before he found his permanent home in The British National Party.

Next up on the soap box was our candidate for the Elswick ward this coming May, Danny Gallagher. In his speech he told how he used to attend many committees in Elswick and campaign to the politicians to implement changes and improve his local area. Mr. Gallagher then came to the realisation that asking these out of touch politicians is futile and the only way to make changes and improvements is to do it yourself by joining the political party that best represents your views and standing for the council. In May 2008, The BNP came second and are the main challengers to Labour in that ward.

The final speaker of the night was Martin Baird who gave a very amusing speech regarding many different topics including his experiences whilst he owned a nightclub.

Mr. Booth wrapped up the meeting by thanking Lisa for putting on the buffet which was enjoyed by the guests during the interval and announced that a collection raised around £150.
